The Innovation Hub- the Innovation Agency of the Gauteng Province- congratulates iMed Tech, incubated at the Biopark@Gauteng business incubator, who was selected as a finalist in the Africa Entrepreneurship Awards and did her final pitch in Morocco last week week. The winners will be announced in the evening today, 12th of December 2017.
iMed Tech, incubated at The Innovation Hub’s BioPark@Gauteng business incubator, is a medical prosthesis company, designing and manufacturing external prosthesis of quality standards to restore the loss of a body feature. The Neyne breastform is one such prosthesis. Founder and owner of iMed Tech, Nneile Nkholise, explains that the breast prosthesis was inspired by women’s journey from first diagnoses, and the strides these women take each day to recover, their immeasurable strength and joy of life. It was for this reason that Nkholise designed a perfect gift for women who have had mastectomies. It is a prosthesis that is light, comfortable, and as natural as a real breast. Neyne breastforms is made using medical grade silicone that ensures bio-compatibility to the skin, and because of this the product ensures great fit and form.
Because of iMed- Tech’s innovation, they have been selected as finalists in the Africa Entrepreneurship Awards.
The Biopark@Gauteng business incubator provides business development support to start-ups in the health, agriculture and industrial biotechnology sectors. The support is provided in collaboration with Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD), the Department of Trade and Industry (dti) and the eGoliBio Life Sciences Incubator. Since its incubation at the BioPark business incubator in January 2017, iMed Tech has benefited from business mentorship, business training as well as financial and commercialisation support.
“iMed Tech is one of many innovative companies that come from The Innovation Hub’s BioPark business incubator. We are truly proud of the work that they are doing to restore the dignity of women who had mastectomies and for creating jobs whilst doing so. We wish them all the best of success with the Africa Entrepreneurship Awards.” – Ms Anéa Burke, BioPark Business Development Manager, The Innovation Hub
