The Innovation Hub, the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) and was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government through its Department of Economic Development (GDED) to promote socioeconomic development and competitiveness of Gauteng through innovation. The Innovation Hub offers a number of incubation, skills development and innovation enabling programmes in Smart Industries (ICT and advanced manufacturing), Bioeconomy (health and agro-processing), and Green Economy (Energy, Water, and waste management) in Gauteng.

Green Economy | The Climate Innovation Centre (CIC) provides business development support to start-ups in the green economy sector (energy, water and waste) in collaboration with the World Bank’s InfoDev, and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA). |
Bio-economy | The BioPark Business Incubator provides business development support to start-ups in the bio-economy sector, including health (biopharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics, indigenous knowledge-based neutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, cosmetics) and agricultural (agro-/food-processing, bioprocessing, smart agriculture) industries. The support is provided in collaboration with Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) and eGoliBio Life Sciences Incubator. |
Smart Industries | Maxum Smart Business Incubator provides business development support to start-ups in the smart industries: ICT (e.g. internet of things, cyber security, big data and analytics, artificial intelligence) and advanced manufacturing / industry 4.0 (e.g. industrial IoT, additive manufacturing, foundry 4.0). |
All the priority sectors | eKasiLabs provides business development support to start-ups in the TIHMC priority sectors in various townships in Gauteng through collaboration with local government and academic institutions. |
Entrepreneurs that are interested in participating in any of TIH business incubators must have a registered businesses with majority South African ownership and the business must be predominantly based in or willing to expand into Gauteng. They must also meet the criteria indicated below and are invited to apply:
